Nanami dead in season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen?

Warning big spoiler ahead, Nanami is indeed dead in season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, more precisely in episode 18. The class 1 exorcist was seriously burned by Jogo shortly after suffering heavy damage during his fight against Dagon. As he went to rescue Megumi, he encountered an army of humans transfigured by Mahito.

He deployed all the strength he had left and made short work of all the monsters in front of him. Unfortunately, as he caught his breath, he felt a gentle hand on his back. Nanami then asks "Were you there from the beginning?" and it's Mahito who replies "Yes."

Then, Mahito asks Nanami if he wants to chat a little, after all the exorcist allowed him to develop his techniques in addition to giving him a good time. Nanami remains silent, he is hallucinating, probably because of his condition. He comes back to himself and turns his head towards Yuji saying "I'll leave the rest to you, I'm counting on you.".

Despite this defeat and this death which leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, we can be happy to know that Mahito was eliminated shortly after. It's not much, and it's revenge dearly paid for with Todo's lost hand, but victories are generally small and costly in Jujustu Kaisen.
