In Costarugo's tower, there is a puzzle that you may have skipped because it is not mandatory, in which you have to arrange the portraits of Costarugo's family. By doing so, you'll be able to get a secret weapon for Bowser: it's not his best weapon, since he just joined the team, but it's a lot of fun.

When you enter the tower, in the lobby you will see a row of six portraits, of Costarugo's ancestors (strangely similar to Wario, right?). To solve the puzzle you would have to pay attention to the order.

Later you will find six portraits, but turned upside down. You must turn them around, that is, interact with them, in the correct order:

  1. The one on the far right
  2. The second from the right
  3. Third from left
  4. The first from the left
  5. Second from the left
  6. Fourth from the left

By doing so you will receive an ancient key, which will allow you to open the locked door. Inside you will find a chain chomp, which Bowser will take as a weapon.

Super Mario RPG is now on sale on Switch. " It is the perfect combination between the role of the classic Final Fantasy and the wealth of originality and sense of humor of the Mario games ."
