WoW: Unlock flying on the Dragon Islands - Here's how

 Starting today you can unlock normal flying in WoW: Dragonflight. We'll tell you how it works.

With the launch of Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream, there is not only a new area and a new raid, but also some other unlocks. One of the most long-requested wishes is the ability to use the normal flying ability on the Dragon Islands. So far it is only possible to use “dynamic flying”, i.e. kite riding.

With Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream, you can now earn regular flying. We'll tell you how it works.

Unlock flying quickly in Dragonflight

What do you have to do? To unlock regular flying, you need the “Dragon Islands Pathfinder” meta-achievement. The principle is already known from other extensions. However, the individual achievements are much easier to unlock this time and you should already have most of them if you actively play World of Warcraft. The 8 individual parts of meta success are:

• Awakening Hope: Complete the main questline on the Coast of Awakening.
• No Pain No Gain: Complete the main quest line in the Plains of Ohn'ahra.
• Azure Alpinists: Complete the main quest line in the Azure Mountains.
• Don't ask me how to write this: Complete the main quest line in Thaldraszus.
• Embers of Neltharion: Complete the main questline on the way to and in Zaralek Cave.
• Dragon Islands Explorer: Fully explore all regions of the Dragon Islands.
• Exploring Zaralek Cave: Explore Zaralek Cave completely.
• Explore the Emerald Grounds Dream: Explore the Emerald Grounds Dream completely.

If you have played actively, then only the last part of the achievement, i.e. researching the Emerald Dream, will be missing:

What's the point of normal flying? Even though dragon riding was very well received by the vast majority of players, there are still some who simply can't get used to this new way of traveling and don't have much enthusiasm for the resource system.

The old style of flying is also more pleasant for some people when it comes to farming herbs and ores, in addition to the bonus that you can simply “go afk in the air” - this is not possible with dragon riding as the dragons would then sink to the ground .
