In BG3, you will come across many NPCs and even those at the beginning may accompany you for a good part of the adventure if you make the right decisions. This is for example the case of Zevlor which will interest us here.
Zevlor and the Emerald Grove's Prickly Situation
Before we look in more detail at how to help Zevlor throughout Baldur's Gate 3, it's worth pointing out that while we're going to try to keep spoilers to a minimum, there are going to be some. In this first part, we will discuss the first Chapter of the game, and in the following, the second.
If you don't want to be spoiled, don't read too far into this article and keep it aside to accompany you on your adventure. But now let's return to Zevlor, whom you will quickly come across. Indeed, he and a whole group of Tieflings have found refuge in the Emerald Grove and there are many ways for his story to end.
The first thing to do will be to side with the Tieflings and Zevlor in their opposition against the druids. To do this, you can either attack Khaga or go looking for Halsin so that he can restore order to this whole mess.
Then, you absolutely must not side with Minthara at the goblin camp. The latter will require that you raze the Emerald Grove and therefore kill Zevlor, which will make interactions with the latter complicated later.
From then on, side with the Grove in this story and kill the generals in the goblin camp. Once you have resolved this problem and that of the Grove, Zevlor and his people will leave it, intending to go to Baldur's Gate.
Find and save Zevlor during Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3?
You will meet the group again during act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3. Indeed, when you arrive at the Inn of the Last Light, you will learn that the group has been attacked, that some members have disappeared and others have even been captured including Zevlor.
If this is not really the subject of this article, you should still know that several missions related to the Tieflings take place during Act 2. For example, you will be able to save Rolland or Arabella, the young Tieffeline whom you have already gotten out of a bad situation by preventing her from being bitten by the Khaga viper.
As for Zevlor, you will have to advance in Act 2 until you arrive at the time of the fight against Ketheric Thorn. After the first phase, you discover that there is a mind flayer's nest under the Highlune Towers and you venture there.
Once you are there, you will have to go to the point indicated to you on the map above. There, you will find several prisoners in a capsule ready to be infected, like you, by an Illithid larva, including Zevlor.
All you have to do is open the capsule by pressing the right button or using your Illithids powers. To avoid any problems, we will still advise you to make a small backup before attempting the rescue. Because if you try to open it using the buttons, a fight against the Flayers begins and you will have to ensure that Zevlor survives!
Should we forgive him?
Once Zevlor has been recovered and the Flayers beaten, if you have ever chosen combat, the latter will confide. He will then reveal to you that he was attracted by the Absolute. He ended up fleeing and being captured, which explains his presence in these places.
It is then up to you to choose what to do with Zevlor. You can decide to kill him, but in terms of stuff and impact on the rest of the story, it's not necessarily the choice that seems to us to be the most coherent. Instead, you can forgive him.
In this case, you can offer to join you in the fight that awaits you. He will refuse, however, he will return when you need him most, during the final fight of the game. We therefore advise you to go for this option.
