Once you have eliminated the 12 Berserkers in God of War Ragnarok, you will finally be able to face their king. Be careful, this is one of the most difficult fights in the game and should only be faced at high levels. We will explain everything to you.
Where is the Berserker King?
If you enjoyed fighting against the Valkyries in the 2018 episode, you have surely decided to take on the challenge of the Berserkers in God of War Ragnarok. In case you missed it, Berserkers are bosses that you can face optionally if you interact with the different tombstones scattered across the Nine Realms.
Once you have eliminated the first 12 Berserkers throughout the world of God of War Ragnarok, you will finally be able to take on the Berserker King. You will find it in the center of the King's Tomb in Midgard, a place that you have already encountered during the main quest and which must have started the quest A Royal Weapon.
How to beat Hrólf Kraki the Berserker King?
First of all, know that the Berserker King is undoubtedly one of the most difficult bosses in the game along with the Queen of the Valkyries (which we advise you to face after eliminating King Hrólf Kraki). As such, we strongly recommend that you only tackle this challenge once you have reached level 8 or even level 9. In addition, we advise you to equip yourself with all of the Berserker Armor that you must have earned by eliminating the previous bosses of this famous quest. To help you overcome it, we suggest you take inspiration from the video below:
To defeat King Hrólf Kraki, we advise you not to rush headlong. Indeed, his blows are particularly powerful and he will also sometimes force you to stop hitting him to take the time to dodge his projectiles. Respect his strength and remember to counter or dodge his attacks before counterattacking. To defeat the Berserker King, we advise you to pay attention to the following moves:
- The Berserker King has many unblockable moves marked with a red circle. Be sure to dodge them by sidestepping or rolling.
- When the Berserker King charges a big blow recognizable by a blue circle, rush towards him to interrupt him with a shield blow or risk taking heavy damage.
- The Berserker King can chain many attacks together at the same time. Take the time to parry or dodge them before counterattacking.
- From time to time, the Berserker King will take flight and throw projectiles at you that hit more or less large areas. Abandon any thoughts of throwing projectiles at him and focus on dodging. Feel free to unlock it and run.
- The Berserker King can hide under ice armor. Use your Blades of Chaos to melt it.
- He can also take to the air and prepare a massive explosion of Bifröst. This attack is very difficult to interrupt but can be done by sending him a powerful attack like an Ax throw with R2 or by activating Spartan Fury next to him. If you don't have anything to interrupt it, almost your entire life bar will be charged with Bifröst and you will have to be very careful not to get hit while it regenerates.
- The Berserker King can jump vertically to swoop down on you. Move by walking until the area under your feet no longer follows you and immediately roll to dodge it.
- The boss can charge a huge area attack which you will recognize by its green effect . When he does, run away from him to get out of the area. Be careful, it is very wide. You can also try to interrupt it with a very powerful attack.
