How to play Lethal Company - guide and tips for beginners

Lethal Company is a game that quickly gained popularity among players thanks to many interesting mechanics and a cooperative mode. Although at first glance it may seem like a simple horror game, the game really shines in the multiplayer. To make your journey through the game easier and more interesting, we have prepared a guide with useful tips and tricks based on your personal gaming experience.

Don't play alone

Lethal Company is designed specifically for co-op gaming, where teamwork is the key to success. Unlike other games where you can level up your character and deal with bosses on your own, here you can only fill a few quotas on your own, after which you will definitely die.

Don't play alone

The game offers many unique mechanics for team action that are not available in single-player mode. So before you purchase the game, make sure you have friends willing to join you as scrap metal collectors and abandoned moon explorers.

Don't play alone

But even if you don't have active friends, Lethal Company maintains public servers that anyone can connect to. Finding Russian-speaking players will not be a problem, since there are a huge number of them in the game at the moment.

Which moon to choose for exploration

The moons in Lethal Company are individual planets, each containing a single bunker. Its structure is generated randomly before a new arrival (a random seed is created), so you will not encounter a single bunker that is similar to any other. The surfaces of the moons have their own distinctive features.

Which moon to choose for exploration

We recommend choosing the starting moon Experimentation and also consider two additional planets with a low level of danger as an alternative: Assurance and Vow. The last indicator, however, does not mean at all that you will not meet monsters there, both inside and outside the bunkers. At the initial stages, it is best to farm loot using them, since this will not only allow you to stay afloat for some time and fulfill several quotas but also gain experience and get to know the local inhabitants.

Before heading to the planet, you should pay attention to the weather conditions. Avoid landing on the moon during an eclipse, thunderstorm, or flooding. In most cases, you will not be able to escape alive under these weather conditions.

What items to buy first

At first, you will not have the funds to purchase tools. We recommend completing the first quota without any equipment at all - in this case you can earn much more. It's all about the dynamic price system for scrap metal.

Once you complete the first quota, you can start selecting items. You will need the following:

  • Flashlight (at least one per group). You can take a powerful flashlight, as it shines much brighter and farther;
  • Walkie-talkie (at least one per group);
  • Shovel.

A walkie-talkie is necessary to communicate with the player, who remains on the ship and watches the others from the terminal, and also guides them and helps them in every possible way. We talked more about team interaction in the next section.

How to Explore Bunkers

First, you need to divide into groups. If you are playing with two players, you will first have to explore the bunkers together and change tactics on moons with high difficulty levels. If you play with a company of four or more people, then the next tip is just for you.

How to Explore Bunkers

The tactics are as follows: one player remains on the ship, and the remaining gamers are divided into two groups to simultaneously begin exploration from the main entrance and fire exit. In this case, the chance of finding many valuables is much higher if all users went to only one entrance. This is especially true if you can split into groups of two.

Collect as many valuables as possible in the first minutes, and then immediately take them to the ship. By the second run, monsters will probably spawn, so you will need to comb the corridors and rooms in not-the-most-pleasant company.

It is worth noting that in addition to terrible monsters at the very beginning, you may encounter turrets and mines, so we do not recommend relaxing. When playing without flashlights, constantly use the scanner (RMB) to light your way a little and scan the area for enemies or loot.

Always carry at least one key with you to open locked doors. In most cases, you will find the keys in the complex itself.

Another way to quickly farm valuables is the inversion teleport. It allows you to teleport to a random location in the bunker and quickly collect loot. However, finding the main entrance or fire exit is not always easy. This is due to the fact that the device teleports the player without items, and some doors may be locked. In this case, you will have to look for the keys. We do not recommend using it after 01:00, since by this time monsters will already appear in the bunker, and you will most likely end up next to them.

How to work with the terminal, open doors, disable mines and turrets

The terminal in Lethal Company is a whole world that you definitely need to explore. With its help, you can not only track your friends' movements around the bunker and warn them of impending danger, but also open doors, disable turrets, and even mines.

How to work with the terminal, open doors, disable mines and turrets

Opening doors, disabling mines and turrets follow the same principle. You need to track the door or mechanism number (for example, "C7"), and then enter it into the terminal. If one of the players is near the object, the door will open and the turret or mine will be deactivated. The last devices will turn off for a few seconds, so your friends should have time to slip past them. It is for the coherence of actions that a walkie-talkie is needed, which we advised you to purchase in the first place.

Note: Doors will often have to not only be opened, but also closed in order to isolate your comrades from the monsters pursuing them.

Who to Fear in Lethal Company

There are more than 20 types of enemies in the game, and with the latest update, there are even more of them. It is possible that this list will only expand. That is why beginners should know how to deal with alien mutants at first.

Mines and turrets

The most dangerous opponents at the beginning of the game are mines and turrets. Machine guns can catch you right at the exit, and you simply won’t have time to escape. Mines are a little safer. However, when running away from monsters, you risk not noticing them and stepping on them, after which detonation will occur.

Mines and turrets

but with mines, everything is much simpler. From time to time they make a characteristic sound, as well as a light signal, so spotting them will not be a problem. Try to stay away, and also remember the location so as not to run into it when you run away from a spider, flea or other monster.

How to escape from chain bees

Chain Bees are treacherous enemies in Lethal Company. They have two phases: calm and activity. Calm bees can be found near hives. The insects become active after you try to take the hive from them. In rare cases, active bees without a hive appear on the map - they cruise around the moon in search of prey.

How to escape from chain bees

If you decide to take the hive, prepare for the fact that one or more teammates will definitely die, because it is almost impossible to escape from active bees. In addition, you will bring the loot to the ship, where after a while flying enemies will try to penetrate. At first, just avoid the bees and don’t experiment.

How to jump over a slime

How to jump over a slime

Dangerous slurry is found only in bunkers. Getting around it is not difficult: look for any railing or take a long jump if there is a place to land behind the slime. He is very slow, so he will not be able to catch up with the player, but he will try in every possible way to drive him into a corner.

How to escape from a flea

How to escape from a flea

Unlike slime, fleas are much more insidious. They hide on walls and ceilings and also pursue their prey to the very end. If they manage to get on top of the player, your teammates will have about ten seconds to kill the creature. But at the same time, they risk killing their teammate. It’s best not to mess with the monsters at all—go around them in every possible way, and if you’re already in the creature’s field of vision, run to the exit and don’t stop.

How to escape from a spider

It is more difficult to hide from the spider than from previous opponents. He usually selects one target and will attack it until he kills it. You can slow it down using regular doors - close the door on the spider's path to gain some time.

How to escape from Bracken

Bracken is only dangerous when you are unaware of his presence. If one of your comrades has already been lucky enough to meet him, then further exploration of the complex will be easy.

To ward off a creature, look at it for a few seconds, but don't hold your gaze. If watched continuously, the Bracken will begin to attack. At this moment, you need to quickly look away from him and look again - the monster will probably retreat.

How to escape from a blind dog

Huge blind dogs don’t see anything, but they hear everything perfectly, even conversations into a microphone. They live only on the surface since due to their size they would not physically fit in a bunker. Having spotted the dog, squat down and follow towards the ship. Throwing objects and running when a monster is nearby is not worth it. We recommend that you only climb on board using a ladder - the jump will certainly attract his attention.

How to escape from Leviathan

This creature does not live on all moons, but can easily kill the entire team. It is always located underground, and can only be detected by characteristic sounds or tracked on the terminal’s radar.

When you feel the ground trembling and hear a menacing growl, run in the opposite direction. If you run forward, it is not a fact that you will be able to leave the area of the mutant’s attack. However, the leviathan constantly moves underground and can overtake you at any moment.

Perhaps these are all the monsters you will encounter while exploring the starting moons. Toll planets are home to much scarier aliens, so you'll definitely want to check out our bestiary before heading there.

When to bring loot to the ship

The earlier the better. The best strategy is not to store items at the exit or in front of the bunker entrance. Once you're jammed to the brim, head straight to the ship. If one of your comrades remains in the shuttle, coordinating the other players via radio, even if everyone dies, he will be able to fly away and keep all the valuables found. If all participants in the game session die, the loot found, including that in the ship, will disappear. Thus, you will simply lose one game day out of three.

When is the best time to sell loot?

We recommend not to rush into selling scrap metal, because, as already mentioned in this guide, the price of loot increases with every day that passes. On the last day, it is much more profitable to hand over all the found trash, which is why we advise one member of the team to always remain on the ship.

Is it worth selling all the loot?

With each completed task, the quota will increase, so in the later stages it makes sense not to sell all the scrap found, but to leave it on the ship. This way you can quickly collect the required amount.

Have fun

This is perhaps the most important advice. The quota will increase indefinitely, so sooner or later you will still end up in space. You shouldn’t sit with a frown and come up with mind-blowing strategies for looting bunkers. Have fun watching the monsters eat your friends!
