The best mods for Ravenfield for weapons, maps, vehicles and skins
Ravenfield allows the player to plunge into large-scale battles with low-poly graphics and ragdoll physics of soldiers. Thanks to its convenient tools, the game has acquired thousands of mods for weapons, vehicles, and various modes, as well as many custom maps. We have selected all the most interesting things and made a selection of the best modifications for you.
The game itself, albeit slowly, is acquiring new mechanics. So, for example, in the latest updates, the game has a conquest mode, in which the player must research weapons and equipment, as well as capture new territories that bring money and research points.
How to install mods for Ravenfield
We'll look at two ways to install mods: through the Steam Workshop and manually using the root folder of the game.
To install through the Steam Workshop, download the game, go to the mod page, and then click “Subscribe”. The Steam client will begin the download and installation itself, all you have to do is select the option to launch Ravenfield “Play Ravenfield”.
To install manually you need:
Right-click on the game shortcut and click “File Location”.
Open the “ravenfield_Data” directory and find or create a “mods” folder in it.
Place the downloaded modifications there.
It is worth noting that Ravenfield has been developing for many years, so some of the modifications are no longer supported by the authors. You can run them by installing an earlier version of the game. To do this you need:
Launch Steam, right-click on Ravenfield, and click “Properties...”.
Go to the “Beta Versions” tab, and select one of the earlier versions of the game in the “Beta Testing” menu.
Download the required version and try to start the game again.
You can find out whether the modification works on the current version of the game by checking the comments in the Workshop.
Vanilla+ Collection
Vanilla+ is a series of modifications from several authors that adds weapons and various equipment to different sides of the conflict. Most of the mods are among the most popular in the Steam Workshop, and their number is large enough for us to have a separate category for them.
Vanilla+ Weapons pack
This mod adds 30 new types of weapons - from sniper rifles to shotguns. All barrels are balanced and stylized to be consistent with the vanilla Ravenfield style.
Vehicle Redesigns and Skins tries to diversify the appearance of the vehicles of the opposing teams - Orlov and Voronov, without violating the Ravenfield style and without going overboard with novelty. The new appearance of tanks, aircraft, armored vehicles, and stationary weapons makes it easy to distinguish between your own and enemy equipment.
Kestrels Faction Theme Set adds a third faction to the game. Their equipment is less technologically advanced, but due to special vehicles, such as a light aircraft or a bike, they are capable of delivering quick and targeted strikes, constantly moving around the map. This is a great way to add variety to the battle and add even more chaos to the fight.
If you have added a new faction, be sure to equip it with weapons by installing the Kestrel Weapon Pack. This mod adds 11 new types of weapons: from pistols to heavy sniper rifles. You can see what they look like in the screenshots.
Rolling Thunder Content Pack, on the contrary, focuses specifically on technology. It adds truly powerful tanks and armored vehicles for full-scale ground battles. A light tank, a tracked infantry fighting vehicle, trucks for quickly transporting troops - all these means will allow you to turn the tide of the battle overnight.
The modification offers a different experience - to go to the sky and start a battle there. The game will feature light and heavy helicopters, fighter jets, attack aircraft, and even a tactical bomber.
So that ground units have at least some chance to resist all this, the modification also adds a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun. With its help, you can destroy not only aircraft but also enemy infantry and light equipment. But its weapons will not penetrate tanks.
Hundreds of maps have been released for Ravenfield, but not all of them can boast of elaboration, competent level design, and quality of execution. We tried to collect the most interesting maps from both a gameplay and visual point of view.
Freehold (map)
Adds a map of the same name to the game for close-range battles. No running or aiming - only close combat, shotguns, and constant firefights.
There are six capture points on the map: three on the ground floor and three on the roof. The author recommends playing with 20-30 bots, but if you want real madness, you can try filling the map with a hundred soldiers.
Oblast Highway is a new map for battles, accommodating from 80 to 150 bots. The radio tower here provides excellent visibility, which makes it a key target for capture, and the rest of the area will serve as a good springboard for troops.
Another map from the same author. This time he recommends setting the bot value between 64-80 participants. According to the creator's idea, two forces are rushing to gain control over a forest in the mountains. The location itself is very beautiful and well-designed. Please note that wooded areas and lots of foliage may reduce game performance.
Overlord offers to take part in the Normandy operation and land on the famous beach in France. The author did not limit himself to just storming the beach - after capturing the bridgehead, you will begin to advance deeper into enemy territory (or try to hinder him).
The map features a system of landing on planes and ships, as well as a gradual change in the places where reinforcements appear as points are captured.
The mod adds a map of the same name to the game. The player will have to fight for Blackrock Island, on which the missile silo is located. The author recommends setting the number of bots to around 50 and promises an excellent gaming experience, a well-developed location, good optimization, battles at close and medium distances, and also some kind of secret.
A huge map designed for a large-scale protracted battle for Omaha Beach. The author recommends launching it after setting it up for 100+ participants. Stationary machine guns, various equipment, and artillery - all this will make the battle truly grandiose.
New weapons, maps, and soldier skins are a great way to diversify the usual gameplay and get a new gaming experience. In this category, we have collected several high-quality and interesting mods of a similar nature.
Plastic Army Men (Skins, Weapons, Vehicles)
The mod suggests stylizing the battles as a battle between children's toys. To do this, he replaces the skins of soldiers, weapons, and equipment with the well-known green soldiers. Weapons, various vehicles, and the soldiers themselves underwent changes. To avoid confusion, their colors vary slightly, but not as much as in the original game. The modification is configured at the request of the player through a config file.
One of the largest weapon packs for Ravenfield, adding 49 new weapons in a variety of categories: several AK models, sniper rifles, heavy machine guns, pistols, carbines, and much more. Detailed characteristics of the barrels can be seen in the screenshots.
A huge pack of weapons on the theme of World War II. The authors brought into the game more than a hundred guns from various participants in the conflict: Germany, the USSR, America, and Great Britain. There was even a place for the weapons of China, Japan, and Denmark. The mod also adds several skins for vehicles.
Are you a fan of World War II technology? Then you will like this addition. The mod adds several dozen units of various military equipment: tanks, cars, and trucks. The list includes cars from the USSR, America, Great Britain, Germany, and other countries.
A small mod that allows you to diversify battles with new types of soldiers. It adds four new skins: 2 forest camouflages, an FBI special forces skin, and a Marine skin. All skins, despite their elaboration and high quality, do not stand out from the Ravenfield style.
If you suddenly want to send a balance and just have fun, this mod is for you, because it adds a six-barreled machine gun to the game. The weapon is equipped with a 200-round magazine, which allows you to crush the entire enemy army in one burst, and also, according to the author, replace air defense.
And this mod adds a full-fledged nuclear strike. Or, to be precise, a laser designator. Take aim, activate the device, and try to find cover within seven seconds. A nuclear strike has two waves. The first has higher damage, but a smaller radius, and the second, on the contrary, hits further, but weaker. The target designator has two charges and a five-second recharge. And yes, bots can use it too.
Mods in this category add new mechanics or change existing ones. Improved feedback, zombie mode, minimalistic interface - all this can significantly change the feeling of the game.
Universal Recoil
The mod reworks shooting in Ravenfield. Recoil is now procedurally generated based on weapon stats and type, meaning each barrel will feel more unique and predictable. All recoil parameters can be changed in the settings.
As the name implies, the modification adds weather effects to the game. These include clouds (flat and 3D), rain, sandstorm, snow, and fog. All of them allow you to diversify the appearance of the cards and add spice to the battles, but, unfortunately, at the moment the creator does not have the opportunity to make these effects affect the accuracy of the bots.
Zombie mod is already in Ravenfield! We decided to “combine” two mods at once. The first one adds new skins and weapon sounds and also tells the player how to start the battle. The second one creates the “infection” mechanics itself.
The resulting zombies can be customized: change the speed and health, as well as the distance from which the infection occurs. You can even turn on one life mode!
Adds to the game the opportunity to receive various bonuses for points. You can call for resupply, artillery, light armor, a respawn beacon, and even request a tactical airstrike! To do this, you need to destroy the enemy and capture key points.
The mod allows you to call a heavy attack helicopter onto the battlefield, which you might have seen in the Call of Duty series. To do this, you need to equip the tablet in the accessory device slot and activate it by picking it up.
You will switch to a helicopter view. The vehicle is equipped with a thermal imager (V) and has on board a 20 mm minigun, a 40 mm rocket launcher, and a 105 mm cannon, which is more than enough for all your opponents.
