Palworld controller bug, how to solve button problems?

The year 2024 and especially the month of January promises to be rich in anticipated games, including Palworld, the title often associated with the Pokémon license, but with firearms. Palworld is now available in early access from this Friday, January 19 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

However, like every early access game launch, some players sometimes encounter bugs, one of which concerns the controllers and we will give you the solution for this rather annoying problem.

How to fix the issue of buttons for controllers not showing on Palworld?

If, like some players, you like to play your games with a controller and the keys are not displayed on Palworld, don't panic, this is normally for those who play them with Game Pass. According to some people on Reddit, the Game Pass version is older than the Steam version. However, if you also have the problem on Steam, the bug is only visual and the keys are already assigned basically. Here are the associated keys for each action:

  • Jump: A
  • Call a Pal/Mount Skill: LB
  • Throw a sphere: RB
  • Partner Skill/Recharge :
  • Roll / Crouch / Mount Skills 3: B
  • Rush: Left Stick
  • Change Pal: Left or right directional cross
  • Change sphere: Down-directional cross
  • Instructions: Straight stick
  • Change weapon: Y
  • Aim: LT
  • Attack/Mount Skill 1: RT

How to fix controller not working issue on Palworld?

If you're playing via Steam and can't activate your controller, here's what to do:

  • Close Palword, if you play it
  • Open Steam and go to Library
  • Search for Palworld and then right-click on the game
  • Choose Properties
  • Go to the Controller menu
  • Click the drop-down menu next to Replacement for Palworld and select Disable Steam Input

There you have it, normally the problem should be resolved, but if the problem persists, do not hesitate to install the Xbox Accessories program on PC to see if your controller might need an update.
