Although many did not expect it, Helldivers 2 has been a fabulous sales success in just a few days since its release. Arrowhead's new galactic action shooter is conquering hundreds of thousands of players on PC and PS5, and word of mouth is likely to bring this work to many more ears. Therefore, Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series X|S console players may end up wondering if the game will also end up coming out on one of these platforms. Do you want to know? Will Helldivers 2 come to Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series X|S?
- As far as we know at the time of writing, there is no confirmation that Helldivers 2 will receive a release on Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series X|S consoles.
Those responsible for this game have not explained if they have plans to publish it on other consoles, but it does not seem very likely in any of the mentioned cases. Let's explain why.
To start, you have to look at the previous installment of the saga. And the first Helldivers was only published on PC and PS4 consoles. It was not available on Nintendo or Xbox consoles, which already leaves us a clue about the path that its sequel could have.
Specifically, regarding Nintendo's hybrid console, it is not likely that Helldivers 2 will be released on Nintendo Switch since the title has somewhat high system requirements for this machine. The game is developed for the latest generation of PlayStation consoles, and Nintendo's hybrid cannot compete with it in terms of technical specifications. That, added to what we have already said above, makes it quite clear to us that it is almost impossible for this game to have a version on Nintendo Switch one day.
On the other hand, will Xbox Series X|S consoles receive the launch of Helldivers 2? There are no reasons to be optimistic here either. PlayStation and Sony have the license and distribution rights for this game, therefore, although it is developed by the Arrowhead team, Sony is the company that decides on which platforms the work is published. Knowing that the Xbox brand is the direct competition of PlayStation, we can deduce that there are no plans to publish the game on the Xbox Series X|S consoles.
In short, and unless otherwise confirmed at some point, Helldivers 2 is for now a PS5 exclusive that is also available to enjoy on PC.
