Disney Dreamlight Valley: how to tame the turtle?

Each biome in Disney Dreamlight Valley has its own animals, and all of them can be tamed – although some are easier to approach than others. You can absolutely have a sea turtle as a companion, but you will have to be patient. Find out how to tame this critter right here:

The different types of turtles

The first area you visit in Disney Dreamlight Valley is the Esplanade, but you will need to unlock different biomes to progress. Each zone has its own resources in terms of wood, minerals, and plants, which you can use for crafting and cooking. You will also be able to meet different critters depending on where you are, such as the raccoons of the Forest of Courage which we spoke to you about recently, but also sea turtles which you can find on the Enchanted Beach. There are 6 types of sea turtles, but only 5 of them can be encountered in-game, with the sixth turtle being a gift for people who purchased the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition of the Founder's Pack. Check out the availability of other turtles below:

How to tame a turtle

Once you have unlocked the Enchanted Beach, you will be able to come across the different turtles listed above. The first thing to do to approach them is to equip yourself with their favorite food: algae. All turtles love algae, so you will only need this ingredient to tame them, no matter their color. You can definitely find seaweed on the Enchanted Beach and in the Bayou de la Confidence, but also fish for it in most bodies of water if you avoid the circles.

With the algae in your pocket, you can start approaching the turtles. Unlike squirrels that come to you of their own accord, turtles are afraid and hide in their shells when they see you. But taming them is not impossible, you just need to go at their pace by following the instructions below:

  • Follow the turtle until it hides
  • Stay still until she comes out of hiding
  • Come closer to interact with
  • Give him some seaweed

Once this is done, the turtle will give you a gift. More often than not, she'll give you a bag of patterns, but occasionally she can give you a dream glow. If you want to make the sea turtle your companion, you will need to feed it several times to unlock it, then assign it to your character from the Companion tab of the Wardrobe menu.
