The different types of crocodiles

Your adventures in Disney Dreamlight Valley begin on the Esplanade, but be aware that you will need to visit different biomes for the purposes of the story. These new areas contain resources of their own, such as plants, minerals, and new types of wood that you will use for cooking and crafting items. You will also be able to meet different critters depending on where you are, such as the squirrels of the Esplanade which we spoke to you about recently, but also the crocodiles which you can find in the Bayou de la Confiance. There are 7 types of crocodiles, but only 6 of them can be encountered in-game, with the seventh crocodile being a gift for people who purchased the game in the first week of Early Access. Discover the availability of the crocodiles in question below:

How to tame a crocodile

Once you have unlocked the Bayou de la Confiance, you will be able to come across the different crocodiles listed above. The first thing to do to approach them is to bring their favorite food: lobsters. All crocodiles love lobster, so you will only need this crustacean to tame them, no matter their color. You can fish for lobsters in the Bayou de la Confiance marsh.

With lobsters in your pocket, you will have to be patient to approach the crocodiles. Unlike squirrels that approach you of their own accord, crocodiles get scared and run away when they see you. But taming them is not impossible, you just need to go at their pace by following the instructions below:

  • Follow the crocodile until it stops
  • Wait for him to turn towards you
  • Stay still when standing
  • Take a step forward when he ducks
  • Repeat the operation until you are close enough to interact with
  • Give him a lobster
Once this is done, the crocodile will give you a gift. More often than not, it will give you a bag of patterns, but it can occasionally give you a dream glow. If you want to make the crocodile your companion, you will need to feed it several times to unlock it, then assign it to your character from the Companion tab of the Wardrobe menu.
