In Disney Dreamlight Valley, you will be able to encounter critters in the different biomes, right from the start of the game. If you want to make the squirrel your companion, you will have to unlock a special ingredient before approaching them. Find out how to tame this animal right here:
The different types of squirrels
The first area you discover in Disney Dreamlight Valley is the Esplanade, but if you complete your Dreamlight missions regularly, you will quickly have enough Dreamlight to unlock additional biomes. Each area has its own resources, such as wood, minerals, and plants, which you can use not only for crafting items but also for cooking. You will also be able to meet different critters depending on where you are, such as the hares of the Quiet Meadow that we recently told you about, but also squirrels that you can find on the Esplanade. There are 7 types of squirrels, but only 5 of them can be encountered in-game naturally, the sixth squirrel being unlockable through the Path of the Stars pass, and the seventh through a story quest. How to tame a squirrel
As soon as you have cleaned the Esplanade a little, you may come across the different squirrels listed above. The first thing to do to approach them is to bring their favorite food: peanuts. Although most will be tempted by an apple, you will need to collect peanuts to really impress them. You can find apples on the Esplanade from the start of the adventure or buy them occasionally from Goofy's stand in the Tranquil Prairie, and peanuts will be available in the pantry at Chez Rémy as soon as you have unlocked the little rat and completed his level 4 friendship quest.
Once you have collected what you need, you can start getting closer to the squirrels. Similar to sparrows that allow themselves to be approached directly, you can quickly tame them by following the instructions below:
- Approach the squirrel to interact with it
- Give him an apple or peanuts
Once this is done, the squirrel will give you a gift. Most often he will give you a bag of patterns, but he can occasionally give you a dreamy glow if you give him his favorite food. If you want to make the squirrel your companion, you will need to feed it several times to unlock it, then assign it to your character from the Companion tab of the Wardrobe menu.
