Even if your tools will be sufficient on their own during the first hours of play, there will come a time when elements of the scenery will prevent you from accessing certain areas, and your instruments will remain powerless before them. It is from there that you will have to think about improving them, which we will help you do in this guide. The pickaxe is quite special since it can be improved in two distinct ways. One is for removing marine debris and will require you to unlock Maui, and the second is for removing ice spikes. These latter are also very annoying since they not only prevent you from accessing the icy cave of the Forest of Courage but also an entire part of the Frozen Heights. Step 1: An icy invitation

Before you can improve your pickaxe, you must unlock Elsa. To do this, you must invite Anna beforehand and reach friendship level 2 with her to trigger her first friendship quest. You'll find all the information you need to unlock Anna on her character page. To invite Elsa, you will need to have access to the frozen cave in the Forest of Courage, but the path is blocked by tree stumps. With the stumps removed, warn Anna and follow her to the ice cave. Take a photo of the cave, and bring Anna's letter to Elsa in the Frozen Kingdom. All you have to do is speak with Anna to complete the quest.

Step 2: Break the ice

This quest is triggered automatically when Elsa arrives in the valley, provided you have unlocked the Enchanted Beach. Talk to Elsa and follow her to the ice cave in the Forest of Courage. The entrance is blocked by ice spikes too thick for Elsa's magic or your pickaxe in its current state, so you need to enchant it. To do this, you will need the following:

• 1 Vial of Ocean Water: Approach the ocean on Enchanted Beach and interact with one of the glowing locations to obtain water.
• 5 sunflowers: you can pick them on the Enchanted Beach.
• 5 lemons: you will find them on fruit trees in the Forest of Courage and in the Bayou de la Confiance.
• 2 sugar canes: You can buy whole sugar canes or sugar cane seeds at the Goofy stand on Enchanted Beach.
• 3 cloves of garlic: you can harvest them from the ground in the Forest of Courage.

With all the ingredients in your pocket, you can craft the Summer Heat Potion at a crafting station. All you have to do is show it to Elsa to apply it to your pickaxe.

Once this is done, you will be able to remove the small ice spikes at the entrance to the ice cave, as well as those located inside .

Wait for Elsa to rebuild the bridge and go collect the blue emblem on the other side. Show it to Elsa, then insert it into the wall. All you have to do now is talk to Elsa to complete the quest.

Step 3: The singing ice cream

To obtain this quest, you must have reached level 6 friendship with Elsa and unlocked the Sunny Plateau and the Frozen Heights. Ice has invaded Elsa's cave, and you must find a way to get rid of it. To do this, you will have to enchant your pickaxe again, this time with a potion of winter cold. Go get the following flowers to get started:

• Red drooping penstemon: drooping penstemons grow on the Esplanade.

Take the flowers to Elsa so she can turn them into a frozen bouquet. With the bouquet in your pocket, you must now gather the following materials to make the potion:

• 5 pieces of ice: you will find them on the floor of the ice cave.
• 1 vial of frozen water: approach the Frozen Heights River and interact with one of the glowing locations to obtain water.
• 3 Snowballs: You can collect snow by smashing ice spikes and digging in Frozen Heights.

All these elements combined, all you have to do is make the winter cold potion at a crafting station. Take it to Elsa to use her magic, and you can apply it to your pickaxe.
