Kolog Forest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: Fog and how to get there

Getting to Kolog Forest, the central area of the Lost Forest, is not easy in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Here we explain the only entry route and how to avoid the fog.

Kolog Forest, located within the Great Forest of Hyrule called the Lost Forest, is a rather special place among the regions of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The reason it is so special is that it cannot be accessed by land or air. Obviously, if you try to approach it from the entrance to the Lost Forest, a fog engulfs you and sends you back to the last stable point you were at.

Here we are going to explain how to get to Kolog Forest and what you should do to avoid the fog in the area.

How to enter Kolog Forest

As we said above, you won't be able to get there by land or air (at least at first). Both from above and from the land route that arrives from the southeast, it will be impossible to access the forest. So, what you will do is arrive from the Underground.

Drop into the Minsh Forest Abyss, southeast of Kolog Forest (1039, 1662, 0159).

Once you are down, if you look south, you will see the Root of Uitoqe, you can activate it to have some more light in the area and a teleport point in case you make a mess.

Well, from the bottom of the hole you fell through, the objective is to go northwest. As usual, navigation is at your discretion, but the objective is the Root of Ri'qonasum (0406, 2134, -0592; which is 6 squares to the left, 4 up if you have the map undiscovered, which will be normal). Remember that you can put a personalized marker from the map to serve as a guide and make it much easier to find your way.

When you arrive at the place, you will see that right next to the root there is a strange structure, with a hole with a flat roof just after climbing some steps.

Climb up the steps and use Infiltration on that roof, and when you surface, you'll be in the Kolog Forest.

How to clear the fog from Kolog Forest

One of the characteristics of this area is that, if you stray too far from the paths, a fog will return you to the initial area. In order to clear it (at least enough to move, the fog will never completely go away), you must first enter the Great Deku Tree, which is the huge and "faced" tree that you will have next to the Musanoq'ir Shrine.

Once inside, walk to the bottom and you will see a hole that descends to the depths. Below you must defeat the dark hands with eyes and the ghost Ganon that appears after them. When you have done so, the Kolog will reappear and you will be able to explore part of the forest. Now, you cannot move freely, since the fog is still present. If you go too high or too far from certain paths (or simply haven't spoken to the right NPC to "open" the path), the fog returns you to the starting area.
