Rise of the Ronin is a game primarily designed for one player, but the Team Ninja title for PS5 also has some curious online functions that are quite particular. And, yes, it is possible to play cooperative missions with the help of other players or by forming a team with your friends. Do you want to know how to do it? How does cooperative play work in Rise of the Ronin?
The online mode of Rise of the Ronin is intended for cooperative only and not competitive. That is, there is no PvP or player-versus-player mode. In this sense, co-op mode allows you to enjoy some main story missions in the company of other players.
But be careful, it is important to emphasize this detail, since you cannot play absolutely all the missions of the game accompanied; only the ronin missions that have a previous preparation screen. This also means that you cannot play in the open world accompanied by your friends.
Cooperative missions have the following special features :
- These types of missions can be carried out with up to 3 players at the same time (you and two additional allies).
- When playing cooperatively, the level of the mission is adjusted depending on the strength of each player and the equipment they carry.
- By playing missions in co-op you can earn silver coins for your personal inventory.
- Additionally, if you are defeated during co-op, you will lose less karma than you would when playing solo.
- On the other hand, in co-op you can use aid points instead of pills to support fallen allies.
Of course, you have to keep in mind that in order to play online you need to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription on your account.
How to play cooperative missions?
As we have already said, only in some ronin story missions can you play cooperatively with your friends or other online players. You will easily recognize these missions because they have a previous preparation screen, with a menu similar to this image:
These missions are the same ones in which you can bring NPC allies managed by the game's AI, but in case of playing online the other real players will replace your allies.
Well, precisely in this menu that we show you you will find an option titled "Cooperate" that is used both to join other players' games and to invite your friends to your own game.
Using the "Recruit reinforcements" option you can configure the parameters of your online game, choosing among other things the difficulty of the mission, the server region or whether the game will be public or private.
You can also select the "Join reinforcements" option . The game will thus search for a public game in progress in which other players need your help. As a last resort, you can also choose "Password" to create a private co-op game . Then you can share the password you use with your friends so that they can directly join your mission.
Remember that once the mission is completed, the other players will return to their "world" and you will continue your solo adventures through yours until the next mission that you can do cooperatively.
