Recently, a modification was released for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition that allows you to play the storyline in co-op with full synchronization of quests, enemies, and items. In this guide, we will show you how to install Skyrim Together Reborn and create your own server, as well as give tips on resolving common errors.

What is Skyrim Together Reborn. The main features and disadvantages of the mod

Skyrim Together Reborn is an improved version of the Skyrim Together mod that we recently talked about. The previous expansion did not sync quests, puzzles, and loot from killed enemies. In Skyrim Together Reborn, many of these issues have been addressed. Today, users can play the game in co-op mode with up to eight people. But along with this addition has a number of disadvantages.

Mod Features

• NPCs and Enemies. All characters and enemies are fully synchronized. For several hours in the game, we observed the same animations and loss of health for many monsters.
• Quests and dialogues. Players can complete any task together with their partners - tasks are automatically synchronized with the server owner. During communication, the text of the selected answer is displayed to all group members in the lower-left corner of the screen.
• Inventory and items. Users will share trophies from killed enemies, ordinary and enchanted equipment, items in chests, and dungeons.
• Hero's death. After death, you do not need to load the last save. The character will appear near the place of death without losing items. It is worth noting that if you attacked the guards in the city and lost the battle, then when you respawn, all charges will be cleared from the hero.
• The difficulty of the game. The server owner has the right to change the difficulty level using a special command.
• PvP mode. By default, this mode is disabled, but the creator of the server can also activate it using a console command.

Additionally synchronized:

• Pickpocketing;
• Magic and arrows;
• Locks;
• Horses;
• Puzzle;
• Stealth.

Disadvantages of the mod

Satellites. The developer does not recommend hiring partners - this can lead to various errors.

Fashion. The add-on does not exclude other user improvements, but the authors warn about the possible unstable operation of Skyrim Together Reborn in the presence of third-party modifications.

Change of weather. Now only clear weather is available to all users.

Public servers are unstable. It is reported that various bugs and errors may occur in public game worlds that make it impossible to complete the story campaign.

Which version of the game is suitable for co-op play in Skyrim Together Reborn

You can install the mod for the following versions of the game:

1. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition (1.6 and up);
2. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition (1.6.353).

Versions 1.5.97, 1.5.93, and below are not supported! Check the relevance of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim build before installing the modification. If build 1.5.97 or 1.5.93 is available on the PC, then most likely the user has not intentionally updated the Steam version of the game and can do so at any time.

How to install and set up Skyrim Together Reborn

We do not recommend installing the mod manually, as this can lead to numerous errors and crashes. Use the Vortex app.

Register on the nexusmods website. Download Vortex and install it on your PC.

Log in to your account through the nexusmods website in the app. 

Go to the Games section, then add Skyrim Special Edition to your games list.

Install SKSE

First of all, make sure your device has the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE). You can download it from this link.

Pay attention to the version of the game opposite the downloaded file. We recommend downloading SKSE for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition (1.6.353), even if you are using version 1.6 or higher.

Unzip the contents of the archive to the root folder with the game and run the application skse64_loader.exe. It will automatically detect the executable file and expand the script base.

Install Address Library for SKSE Plugins

Follow this link. Depending on the installed version of the game, you must download the address library for SKSE:

• All in one (Anniversary Edition) - for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition (1.6.353);
• All in one (Special Edition) - for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition (1.6 and up).

Since you are installing add-ons through the Vortex application, select Mod Manager Download. After a few seconds, the site will redirect the download to the mod manager and automatically download it.

Install Skyrim Together Reborn

Open this link and select Mod Manager Download. As in the previous case, the download will be redirected to Vortex, and the modification will soon become available on the device.

How to launch Skyrim Together Reborn

Now that all the required mods are installed, it remains to follow a few simple steps before launching Skyrim Together Reborn for the first time.

Launch Vortex and go to "Toolbar". Click on the plus sign that says "Add a tool". In the window that opens, click on the folder in the second item "Target" and go to the directory with the Skyrim Together Reborn mod installed.

Select the SkyrimTogether.exe executable and click the Save button.

You can find out the location of the mod as follows:

1. Launch Vortex and go to the "Mods" section.
2. Right-click on the installed modification and select "Open in Explorer".
3. Copy the path to the root folder of the mod.
4. Paste the path into the explorer window that opens.

When you do this, a new tool will appear on the panel - Skyrim Together. Click on the Play button to open the game. At the first start, the modification will ask you to specify the location of the original SkyrimSE.exe file. If you do not know where the game files are, then follow these steps:

1. Open the Steam launcher and navigate to the games library.
2. Click on the game RMB and select "Management" - "View Local Files".
3. Copy the path to the root folder with the game.
4. Click on the Play button and paste the copied path.
5. Select the SkyrimSE.exe file.

Common errors when installing Skyrim Together Reborn. How to fix Failed to load Skyrim Address Library and Wrong game selection

When installing modifications, you may encounter various errors. Below we have collected the current issues at the moment.

Failed to load Skyrim Address Library

The most common error is Failed to load Skyrim Address Library. It occurs in two cases:

1. The build of the game is different from the version of the SKSE script extender.
2. The assembly differs from the version of the Address Library for SKSE Plugins mod.

Skyrim Together Reborn does not work with patches below 1.6.x, nor with VR 2.0.12 (1.4.15). There is no point in installing a mod on such assemblies.

Skyrim 1.5

Make sure the assembly downgrade patch is not enabled. To resolve this issue, launch Steam and verify the integrity of the installed files:

1. Open the library.
2. Select the game, right-click on it and click "Properties".
3. Go to the "Local Files" section.
4. Click on the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button.

Wrong game selection

This error means that you selected the wrong file during the first launch of the game from Vortex. Fixing it is pretty easy:

1. Open the root folder with the modification.
2. Hold down the Spacebar and double-click on the SkyrimTogether.exe file.
3. In the window that opens, specify the correct SkyrimSE.exe file to start the game.

How to play Skyrim together. How to start a server, invite players or connect with a friend

To play in co-op, you need to follow a few more simple steps. Below we have provided all the necessary information.

How to play on custom servers

1. Start the game and load the last save.
2. Click on the "RCtrl" or "F2" keys.
3. Click Connect and then Public Servers.
4. Select a free server and click Connect.

At the moment, most of the custom servers are unavailable. We recommend using private game worlds to play the story campaign together.

How to create a private server

1. Download Hamachi and create a network. In the previous guide, we talked about how to do this.
2. Copy the IP address of the created network.
3. Find the folder with the mod installed and run the SkyrimTogetherServer.exe file.
4. Open the game and load the latest save.
5. Press the keys "RCtrl" or "F2".
6. Select Connect, paste the copied IP address into the top field, and add ":10578" without quotes. The address should look like this: "25.33.250.202:10578".
7. In the bottom column, set the password for the server (optional).
8. Click Connect.

How to connect to a private server

1. Connect to the created Hamachi network and copy the IP address.
2. Open the game, and press the keys "RCtrl" or "F2".
3. Select Connect, then paste the copied IP address and add ":10578" without quotes.
4. In the second line, enter the password if access to the server is restricted.

Server console commands

• /help - show a list of commands;
• /set - set a parameter (for example, true or false);
• /ShowMOPOStats - track the status of ModPolicy;
• /crash - crash the server;
• /version - show the version with which the server was compiled;
• /TogglePvP - toggle PvP mode (disabled by default);
• /TogglePremium - toggle Premium mode;
• /players - list of all players on the server;
• /mods - list of all installed mods on the server;
• /quit - stop the server.
