Weapon guide in Sons of the Forest - where to find and how to make a spear, bow, pistol, axe, shocker, shotgun, chainsaw and katana

You can craft primitive survival equipment in Sons Of The Forest yourself, and you will have to look for more powerful weapons in the open world. In this guide, we will show you how to make a spear, bow, and club, as well as find a pistol, shocker, axe, shotgun, and other weapons.

How to craft a spear

This is perhaps the first thrown weapon in the game and the easiest to obtain. To create it, you will need a small number of simple resources:

Stick (2);
Scotch (1);
Knife - not lost after use.

You can create several copies at once, if, for example, you used one, not in close combat, but threw it at the enemy.

How to craft a club

Blunt weapons will not stand aside either and will become a reliable ally in close combat. To make a baton you will need:

Rope (1);

Rope can be found in boxes or in native camps scattered throughout the map. Most often it can be found in tents or next to them.

How to craft a homemade bow and arrow

A homemade bow is a good weapon for hunting and protection against cannibals. To create it, you need to find a rope. We have described the approximate location of this resource above. You will also find the rope by simply progressing through the story and visiting various points of interest.

To craft a bow you need:

Stick (2);
Scotch (1);
Rope (1);

Arrows can be crafted in the inventory or printed on a 3D printer. Also, consumables in large quantities will often be found in bunkers and dungeons.

To create arrows you will need:

Stick (2);

Small stone (2);

Feather (2).

Arrow feathers are harvested from all birds. Just use the spear to ambush the bird sitting on the ground.

Where to find a modern ax

At the beginning of the game, you will find a battle ax, but there is also a more advanced version of it, which is not easy to find. In the screenshots below, we have indicated its location on the map, as well as the characteristics of the weapon, which are an order of magnitude higher than those of the starting ax.

Where to find a pistol

Firearms will probably be one of the most effective at the start of the game, and in general during the gameplay. The pistol is easy to find, especially considering the fact that its location is highlighted with a purple marker on the map. The item is located in an inflatable raft that floats in the bay.

Swimming to it is not very difficult, but we note that on the way you can be attacked by sharks. Depending on the difficulty you're playing on, sharks do different damage. For example, on Normal difficulty, one bite will take about a quarter of the protagonist's health. On hard difficulty, the same blow takes a little less than half of the vitality bar. Be sure to restore health before sailing for weapons. We also recommend making a healing mixture. The simplest first aid kit is made from the following ingredients:

Yarrow (1);
Aloe (1).

When you swim all the way to the boat, you will not find medicines on it, so prepare yourself on the shore.

Note: In the later stages of the storyline, you will find at least one more of these weapons when looking around some underground bunkers.

How to find a shocker

This gun is not a lethal weapon, but in some situations, it can save your life. He is able to make the enemy immobile for a while. You can find it at the beginning of the game, but we do not recommend running into the cave right away. You should first find a pistol, and make a supply of medicines and arrows for a bow. The location is in the screenshot below.

The pistol itself is found by a corpse suspended from the ceiling at about the end of the cave. To find cartridges for it, search all the corpses and caches.

Where to find a rope launcher

A special device that can shoot a rope and make its way to previously inaccessible places. You can find it in the cave indicated in the screenshot below.

You will also need it to find the shovel later in the story.

Where to find a slingshot

Usually, the slingshot is in the pocket of one of the three corpses right in front of the cave where the shovel is hidden. It is worth noting that some players may not find it here.

The slingshot is a primitive but quite useful weapon. She uses small stones as ammunition and is also capable of killing natives with just three to five accurate headshots.

Where to find a shovel

The shovel is a very useful tool and an extremely formidable weapon capable of dealing high-piercing damage. You can find it after getting the cable launcher since only with its help you can overcome the huge wall in the cave. The screenshot below shows the entrance to the desired dungeon.

The shovel allows you to dig up graves, where you can find a large number of useful resources, as well as places of interest, access to which was previously restricted.

Where to find a fire ax

The fire ax is a powerful melee weapon in the game. It can only be found if you already have a shovel since the entrance to the bunker where the treasured item is located is buried. To find the location of the ax in the presence of a shovel, use the screenshot with the map.

Where to find shotgun

To search for a shotgun, you will also need a shovel. If you have fulfilled this condition, then go to the place indicated in the screenshot and dig a grave. Break the coffin with any melee weapon and inspect it. Inside you will find a shotgun, as well as a GPS tracker.

We advise you to save this weapon only for the most powerful opponents because the ammunition in the game cannot be created independently, and the found cartridges are not enough to destroy all the enemies in the game.

Note: As you progress through the story, you will find at least two more similar guns in different bunkers.

Where to find a chainsaw

An excellent tool for quickly harvesting firewood, as well as an excellent weapon. You can find it by entering the underground bunker marked on the map (this is also where you could find the 3D printer for the first time). It is worth noting that for this you will need to find a second key card, which will become available only after obtaining a shovel and opening a buried bunker.

By holding the RMB button, you can constantly deal damage to the enemy. The chainsaw is in the corpse of a man.

Where to find a revolver

The Revolver is a powerful weapon that can be found near the end of the Sons of the Forest storyline. Follow the marker on the map and find the entrance to the underground bunker, which is buried near the coast. Here you will see two golf carts and some surveying equipment.

Dig out the entrance and get down. Examine the corpse of a worker, next to which lies a revolver. The weapon uses regular pistol cartridges (9x18) as ammunition but has a lot of damage.

Where to find a katana

This wonderful melee weapon can be found later in the story, after finding another key card.

Look around all the rooms inside the bunker, as here you will find a large amount of useful supplies. The katana lies on a stand in one of these rooms.
