If you want to explore every inch of Hogwarts Legacy, you'd better get used to a certain lock-picking minigame. It's certainly not the funniest lock-picking/hacking minigame we've ever seen, but it's here and you'll have to get used to it. Being able to unlock the higher-level locks is exciting, but playing the minigame itself? Not exactly.
Thankfully, you can complete these mini-games in no time, as long as you know what you're doing. Read on in this guide to find out what to do once you come across the locks and related minigames after learning Alohomora.
TAKING THE ALOHOMORA MAGIC IN HOGWARTS LEGACY
As you progress through the game, you will come across Gladwin Moon, the caretaker of Hogwarts. He is mortally afraid of Demiguise figurines for some reason and will ask you to collect them all. As a result, he will teach you the Alohomora spell, which will unlock the locks on the doors behind which the figurines are hidden.
The more Demiguise you collect and return to Moon, the more he will improve your Alohomora magic, allowing you to access more areas in Hogwarts Legacy.
THE LOCK-PICKING MINIGAME
The lock-picking minigame, now. This minigame requires that you only use both analog sticks.
Your right analog stick controls a green spark and outer gear, while your left analog stick controls a red spark and inner gear. The mechanism has eight cardinal directions, and when held in the correct cardinal direction, the gears inside and outside will begin to turn.
You'll need to find the correct direction to hold both sticks in, and hold them both in that position for a few seconds.
You'll go faster by twisting the analog sticks all the way around the mechanism and looking for which direction the smaller gears will click – this will indicate that you've just passed through the correct location. By doing this you will soon find the correct position for the gears and unlock the door.
