Locations of all chests with guaranteed legendary equipment inside
There are many secrets and treasures hidden in Hogwarts Legacy. Some of the items found in the chests are purely cosmetic, while others are pieces of equipment of various types. Of course, there are chests that guarantee the receipt of elite legendary equipment. They all look the same - huge painted chests that do not have any locks.

As mentioned above, all legendary chests in Hogwarts Legacy contain legendary pieces of equipment. They are automatically generated depending on the level of your character (at the moment you open the chest). That is why you should not rush to collect loot from each such chest. Also, like most chests, the rewards are randomized, so it's impossible to tell which chest will give you the piece of gear you want. Thus, one can resort to the trick of saving and reloading before opening the chest to try to get something that is most suitable and interesting.
Finally, some of the legendary chests in Hogwarts Legacy are found in hard-to-reach places or closed rooms. To open locks, you will have to learn the Alohomora spell in the story. Not only that, Alohomora needs to be improved in order to be able to open locks of the second or third level.
Legendary chests in the wing of the bell tower
- Bell tower. Check the stairs to the right of the flying flame and climb up. You must go past some bells that are part of another side quest. At the very top of the wooden stairs there will be a balcony with a chest.
- North exit from Hogwarts (Greenhouses). Go to the outside of the greenhouses. Below is an astronomical table, as well as a door covered in vines. Burn the vines using the Incendio to get inside. There are plenty of black plants inside, so get past them using Lumos, Incendio, or Confringo. At the very end of the corridor is a poisonous tentacle. You will get here on one of the side tasks, but you can come earlier. The stairs on the right lead to a separate greenhouse room, where you will find a legendary chest.
Great Hall Legendary Chests
- Viaduct courtyard. To find this legendary chest, you need to solve the riddle on the viaduct (one of the three secrets of Hogwarts). Light the braziers using fire spells and turn their dials so that the numbers match the symbols shown on the tiles at the start of the bridge.
Astronomy Wing Legendary Chests
- Defense against the dark arts class. Open the door at the back of the classroom and follow the stairs going down (there will be another locked door below). The legendary chest is in the detention chamber.
South Wing Legendary Chests
- The inner courtyard of the clock tower. To get the chest, you need to solve the clock tower puzzle. A huge pendulum swings between four symbols. Use Glacius to stop him at each character and gain access to four rooms. One of them will contain a legendary chest. On the second floor there is a chest with an eye, and to get to it, you need to stop the pendulum at the second symbol. As for the legendary chest, you need to freeze the pendulum at the fourth symbol and go up to the room at the top of the stairs.
- Tower of teachers. Go to this tower and go up the stairs. You will see a door with a third-level lock.
Legendary chests in secret rooms
- The room behind the map. After passing through several corridors, you can get into the basement of Hogwarts. It is best to use the flying flame "Hall of Cartography". You will gain access to this secret room a few hours after the start of the campaign. Climb the steps to reach the basement, then open the metal gates using the first level Alohomora. There will be a frog statue here that will redirect you to another location. Interact with the frog statues until you reach the room with the legendary chest.
Legendary chests on the stairs of Hogwarts
- Hall of trophies (corridor). From the flying flame, go down the corridor and up the stairs. You will find yourself in a corridor with walls decorated with mahogany. There is a legendary chest in the room on the left side.
- Hall of trophies (director's bedroom). To obtain this legendary chest, you must complete the main quest called "Trial of New Fitzgerald". Thanks to this, you will learn the password and be able to say it to the gargoyle in order to gain access to the director's office. There are two doors to your left, one of which has a third-level lock. Open it and check the director's bedroom.
- Hall of Trophies (Access Key). First you need to get the access key. You can find him by opening another door in the director's office. It is protected by a Level 1 lock, but the door at the top of the stairs has a Level 3 lock. Pick up the access key from the table, go to the opposite side from where the gargoyle used to be. There is a richly decorated door with several locks. Open it with an access key.
Legendary chests in Hogsmeade
- Sweet kingdom. Near the main entrance to the "Sweet Kingdom" there is a room with a lock of the second level. Open and search the legendary chest.
- House in Hogsmeade. Check out the level 3 castle house to the right of the South Hogsmeade fast travel point.
- Flutes and lutes. Next to the same house is a music store called Flutes and Lutes. Behind the store is a legendary chest.
